After Saturday’s doubleheader split in New Britain, the Thunder turn their attention to the season’s final two games on Sunday and Monday afternoons at New Britain Stadium. The Rock Cats enter play on Sunday one game back of the Reading Phillies for the Eastern Division’s Wild Card spot.
RHP Graham Stoneburner will start for the eleventh time this season on Sunday afternoon for the Thunder, hoping to bring an end to a career high losing streak of four games. Last time out, the righty from Richmond, VA allowed three runs on five hits in six innings in a loss to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Stoneburner has started once against the Rock Cats before Sunday. On August 25, he allowed a career high nine runs (four earned) in a loss.
RHP Bobby Lanigan gets the ball for the 27th time this season in the starter’s role for the Rock Cats. The Staten Island-native last worked on Tuesday in Richmond. In the outing, the righty allowed just one run on five hits in a Rock Cats win. Lanigan started opposite Phil Hughes on June 24 and allowed one run on five hits in eight innings in a no decision.
