Kicking off the season’s final home series, Trenton’s losing streak hit six last night when New Hampshire took game one of the four-game set 10-4. Despite another loss, the Thunder still have an outside shot at a playoff birth because of losses by Reading and New Britain last night. Entering play on Tuesday night, the Thunder stand 3.5 games back of the New Britain Rock Cats and the Eastern Division’s Wild Card spot.
RHP Graham Stoneburner will make his tenth start of the season on Tuesday night at Waterfront Park. The righty out of Clemson lost his last time out, allowing nine runs on 11 hits in 5.1 innings on Thursday night at home against New Britain. Stoneburner missed three months with the Thunder due to a neck injury and has not won since returning to the team, going 0-3 with a 4.92 ERA in six starts.
RHP Drew Hutchison will make his second career Double A start after picking up a win over the Thunder last Wednesday in Manchester in his debut with the Fisher Cats. In the outing, the righty hurled five innings and gave up just two hits. Hutchison was a 2009 15th-round selection out of Lakeland (FL) HS and started the 2011 season in Class A Lansing. After posting a 6-2, 2.62 mark in the Midwest League and a 5-3, 2.74 line with the Advanced A Dunedin Blue Jays, Hutchison continues his ascent through the ranks of the Blue Jays system.
