Today’s Game Notes

Falling last night 11-8 to New Britain in the opening contest of the season’s final homestand, the Thunder lost for the third straight time to severely hamper the team’s playoff chances in the Eastern League’s Eastern Division playoff race.  Entering play on Friday night 2.5 games back of the Reading Phillies and the Wild Card spot, the Thunder need to string together a stretch of good baseball in the season’s final 11 games to make the postseason.

LHP Shaeffer Hall will get the ball to make his 23rd start of the season for the Thunder.  The lefty last worked on Sunday against Bowie at Waterfront Park, but his outing was cut short due to the game being cancelled by rain.  Hall has made one appearance in his career against the New Britain Rock Cats, taking the loss on June 24 of this season at New Britain Stadium.

LHP Andrew Albers gets the ball to make his eleventh appearance and his fourth start with the Rock Cats this season.  Making a spot start on Sunday, the lefty and former college baseball pitcher for the Kentucky Wildcats hurled four innings of two-run, one-hit baseball in a no decision in a win at home against New Hampshire.  Albers started the season with the Fort Myers Miracle in the Florida State League, going 4-1 with a 1.55 ERA.

The Bank of Princeton’s Hank’s Take it to the Bank: Shaeffer Hall will post a quality start tonight.  Season Stats: .459 batting average (56-122, hit streak: +2)
