Game 129: Trenton Thunder (64-64) @ New Hampshire Fisher Cats (70-59)

The first 2,000 fans (ages 6+) to Waterfront Park on Wednesday, August 31, will receive Verizon Wireless Andy Pettitte Statues.

Today’s Game Notes

A night after their seven-game win streak against New Hampshire fell, the Thunder still have an opportunity to win this three-game set at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.  A win on Wednesday night would clinch Trenton’s first series victory since sweeping the Aeros in Akron from July 25-57.  After starting the pivotal month of August 3-11, the Thunder have won four of six ball games to stay alive in the Eastern League Eastern Division playoff race.

RHP Chase Whitley will make his first career professional start as he gets the ball in a fill-in role for the Thunder in the rubber game of a three-game set in New Hampshire on Wednesday night.  The righty from Ranburne, AL became the first member of the 2010 Draft Class to reach the Thunder when he was called up from Advanced A Tampa in late June.  In 16 relief appearances with Trenton since then, Whitley is 3-3 with a 2.75 ERA and one save.  The longest Whitely has ever gone in a pro game is three innings, which he is done six times.

RHP Drew Hutchison will make his Double A debut in just his 40th career professional start on Wednesday night for the Fisher Cats.  The righty and 2009 15th round selection out of Lakeland (FL) HS started the 2011 season in Class A Lansing.  After posting a 6-2, 2.62 mark in the Midwest League and a 5-3, 2.74 line with the Advanced A Dunedin Blue Jays, Hutchison continues his ascent through the ranks of the Blue Jays system.

The Bank of Princeton’s Hank’s Take it to the Bank: The Thunder will be ahead when Chase Whitley leaves the game.  Season Stats: .458 batting average (55-120, hit streak: +1)
