Thunder Ride Almonte’s Clutch Two-Bagger to Victory

MiLB traveler extraordinaire Tug Haines joins Jay Burnham ans Hank Fuerst on the SBLI Pre-Game Show…

(Trenton, NJ) – A clutch hit from Zoilo Almonte and four solid frames of relief pitching led the Trenton Thunder (59-58) to an 8-5 win over the Binghamton Mets (49-69) in front of 7,316 fans at Waterfront Park on Thursday night.  Almonte’s clutch two-out double in the bottom of the seventh erased a 5-4 Binghamton lead and allowed the Thunder to avoid being swept by the B-Mets in the three-game set.  The Trenton bullpen hurled four scoreless innings of relief, helping the team break a six-game losing streak at Waterfront Park.
