Today’s Game Notes

In the middle game of a three-game set with the Binghamton Mets at Waterfront Park, the Thunder will look to grab their first home victory in five tries in the month of August.  Usually solid at Waterfront Park, the Thunder have only won one series in Trenton since the beginning of July and need to win the final two games of this series with Binghamton to avoid another series defeat.  This three-game series marks the last meeting between the Thunder and the Binghamton Mets in the 2011 season.  After this brief three-game set, the Thunder head to Harrisburg and Erie for a seven-game road trip.

LHP Shaeffer Hall gets the pearl from Tony Franklin tonight to make his team-leading twenty-first start of the season.  His last time out, the lefty received his first loss as a starter since May 11, surrendering five runs in 5.2 innings at home against Akron.  The former Kansas Jayhawk has faced the Binghamton Mets once this season, a start at NYSEG Stadium on June 19.  Hall received a no decision, allowing four runs on ten hits in six innings.

RHP Matt Harvey will make his eighth start of the season for the Binghamton Mets after being called up from St. Lucie in late June.  Harvey went 0-3, with a 5.76 ERA in his first six outings for the B-Mets but won in his last start.  In the outing, the former North Carolina Tar Heel shut down the Curve in Altoona to the tune of no runs on three hits in five innings.  Harvey, regarded as the fourth-ranked prospect in the Mets’ Minor League system according to Baseball America, was the seventh overall selection in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft.

The Bank of Princeton’s Hank’s Take it to the Bank:  The Thunder will chase Matt Harvey from the game before the end of the sixth inning.  Season Stats: .450 batting average (49-109, hit streak: -1)
