Game 111: Akron Aeros (57-54) @ Trenton Thunder (57-53)

Someone let a pirate be the Public Address Announcer on Beach Day at Waterfront Park on Thursday....arggggh!

With last night’s loss clinching the second straight series loss at home for the Thunder, the team hopes to finish this seven-game homestand in strong fashion with the finale of the three-game set with Akron on Thursday afternoon.  After this matinee with the Aeros, the Thunder head west to Altoona for a brief three-game road set before returning home to take on the Binghamton Mets in a three-game set.

LHP Shaeffer Hall will look to stop another losing streak for the Thunder as he makes his twentieth start of the season Thursday afternoon.  The lefty from the Kansas City area has won each of his last four outings, each one coming after a Thunder loss.  On Saturday at Waterfront Park, Hall grabbed the win over the Richmond Flying Squirrels, hurling seven innings and giving up four runs on five hits.  So far this season, the former Kansas Jayhawk has started 13 times following a Thunder loss, leading the team to an 11-2 record in that span.

RHP Paolo Espino returns from AAA Columbus to an Aeros squad that is looking to sweep the Thunder at Waterfront Park on Thursday afternoon.  The Panamanian righty last worked for the Clippers on Sunday, throwing 2.1 innings of relief without giving up a run.  Espino started the season with the Aeros in the bullpen and has gone 4-0 with a 2.79 ERA in 20 total appearances.  As a starter with the Aeros this season, Espino is 2-0 with a 2.40 ERA.
