Squirrels Use Big Inning to Get Past Thunder

Thunder manager Tony Franklin joins Hank Fuerst on Thursday’s SBLI Pre-Game Show.

(Trenton, NJ) – A five-run fifth inning fueled the Richmond Flying Squirrels (58-47) to an 8-3 victory over the Trenton Thunder (56-49) on Thursday night at Waterfront Park.  In game one of the four-game set, Richmond’s offense used five runs and five hits in the sixth inning to chase Dellin Betances from the game and give the Thunder their first loss since last Saturday in Bowie.  The Trenton offense was limited to just three RBI-singles from Melky Mesa, Jose Pirela and Austin Romine.
