Game 105: Richmond Flying Squirrels (57-47) @ Trenton Thunder (56-48)

That, my friends, is what an actual flying squirrel looks like...that's exactly what I thought it would look like.

Today’s Game Notes

Winners of four straight on the road, including a three-game sweep over the Akron Aeros, the Thunder return home to open a seven-game homestand with game one of a four-game set on Thursday night with the Richmond Flying Squirrels.  After four with the Double A Affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, the Thunder will welcome the Akron Aeros to Waterfront Park for the first time in 2011.

RHP Dellin Betances will start for the eighteenth time this season as he gets the pearl tonight against the Flying Squirrels.  In one start against the Squirrels this season, the first game of a doubleheader on July 7, the 6-8 righty hurled six dominating innings, surrendering just one run on four hits.  The righty last worked on Saturday in Bowie and was forced to leave after 3.2 innings due to the extreme heat.

LHP Chuck Lofgren will make his second start of the season tonight for the Squirrels.  The lefty won at home against Harrisburg on Saturday, hurling 5.2 innings and giving up just one run.  Originally selected by the Indians in the fourth round of 2004, Lofgren is participating in his first season in the Giants organization.

The Bank of Princeton’s Hank’s Take it to the Bank:  Thunder starting pitcher Dellin Betances will last more than 5.0 innings tonight.  Season Stats: 43 wins, 55 losses (streak: W1)
