On Sunday night in Bowie, the Thunder held on for a 6-4 victory over the Baysox to win a road game for the first time since June 26. The win also avoided the Thunder from being swept in the four-game set with the Baysox. After taking two of three in Akron in May, the Thunder will take on the AA affiliate of the Cleveland Indians in a three-game set.
RHP Cory Arbiso will make his sixth start of the season for the Thunder tonight in Akron. The righty out of Cal State-Fullerton has made five starts this season faring 0-1 with a 7.16 ERA. In 26 relief appearances for Trenton this year, Arbiso is 4-4 with a 5.47 ERA. On Wednesday in Trenton, Arbiso lasted three innings, giving up two runs on seven hits.
LHP Drew Pomeranz will get the pearl for the Aeros tonight as the lefty makes his third career AA start. The fifth overall pick in the 2010 First-Year Player’s Draft out of Ole Miss, Pomeranz is 0-1 with a 1.86 ERA (2 ER in 9.2 IP) in his first two outings. The Memphis native last worked on Wednesday when he received a loss at home against the Altoona Curve.
