The last time the Thunder won a road game was on June 26 in New Britain. Despite the team’s struggles in the month of July (4-15 record, one series win), the Thunder are still just 2.5 games out of first place heading into Friday night’s contest with Bowie.
LHP Manny Banuelos will make his team-leading nineteenth start of the season and his first career start against the Baysox on Friday night. The 20 year-old lefty has not won a game since June 23 and has fared 0-3 with a 5.16 ERA in four starts. Banuelos last worked on Sunday against Shane Victorino and the R-Phils on Sunday at Waterfront Park. In the outing, the lefty allowed three runs in five innings in a 4-3 Thunder loss.
LHP Mike Ballard will make his eighth start of the season for the Baysox tonight, looking to keep up his unbeaten streak. The lefty from Norfolk, VA picked his fifth straight win on Sunday, hurling eight innings of one-run ball against Richmond.
