Five errors, 18 hits given up, seven lead changes and a heat index near 100 degrees could not keep the Thunder down in the team’s 13-12 walk-off win. Wednesday’s victory clinched the team’s first series win since a late-June sweep over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at Waterfront Park. Winners of two straight, the Thunder will now embark on a seven-game road swing to Bowie, MD and Akron, OH, looking to win a game on the road for the first time since June 26. After a four-game set with the Baysox, the Thunder will take on the Akron Aeros for three games.
RHP Craig Heyer will make his seventeenth start of the season as the Thunder open a four-game set with the Bowie Baysox. After going 3-0 with a 2.88 ERA in four starts from June 5 to June 27, the righty from Scottsdale, AZ has fared 0-2 with a 6.87 ERA in four starts since. On Saturday, Heyer surrendered a career high (as a starter) seven runs in a loss at home against the Reading Phillies. Tonight, Heyer will face the Baysox for the first career time.
