Game 97: Erie SeaWolves (46-50) @ Trenton Thunder (51-45)

Rob Lyerly hit his second career Double A homerun on Wednesday.

After breaking the season’s first three-game home losing streak last night, the Thunder now have a chance to win their first series since a June 27-29 sweep over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at Waterfront Park.  On a getaway day for both teams, the Thunder are looking to finish the month of July strong after losing 13 of the first 17 games in the month of July.  Tomorrow, the Thunder head to Bowie to take on the Baysox for a four-game set.

RHP Cory Arbiso will get the spot start for the Thunder this afternoon at Waterfront Park, filling in for the recently-promoted Steve Garrison.  In four starts this season, the righty out of Cal State-Fullerton is 0-1 with a 8.10 ERA.  Arbiso last started on July 5 in the second of two games in Richmond.  In the outing, Arbiso lasted just three innings, surrendering two runs on five hits.  As a reliever this year, Arbiso is 4-3 with a 4.35 in 26 appearances.

LHP Ramon Garcia will also make a spot start today with Jacob Turner being pushed back for some extra rest.  The lefty has started five games this season for Erie, posting a 2-1 record with a 4.01 ERA.  Garcia last worked as a starter on July 10 when he hurled six innings in a win in Akron.  On May 19 in Erie, Garcia pitched the 15th and 16th innings against the Thunder, giving up four runs to receive the loss.

The Bank of Princeton’s Hank’s Take it to the Bank:  The Thunder will win today…enough said.  Season Stats: 38 wins, 51 losses (streak: L1)
