After losing nine straight games to end the first half of the season, the Thunder have bounced back with two wins over the Reading Phillies to begin this four-game series and seven-game homestand. Tonight at Waterfront Park, the Thunder will have to get past the rehabbing Brad Lidge and Shane Victorino to grab a series win over the Reading Phillies. Saturday night and Sunday’s day game will be the final two contests played between the R-Phils and the Thunder this season.
RHP Craig Heyer will start for the sixteenth time this season as he gets the pearl against the Reading Phillies in game three of the four-game series. After going 3-0 in the month of June, the righty from Scottsdale, AZ is 0-1 with a 3.38 ERA in three starts. His last start was on Monday and came on three days’ rest. In three innings, Heyer surrendered four runs on six hits.
RHP Joe Esposito starts for the fifth time this season for the R-Phils. Esposito, a Long Island native, has won his last two starts, including a start on Sunday against the Thunder at FirstEnergy Stadium. In the outing, the righty allowed four runs on five hits in five innings in a game the R-Phils won 8-5.
