A trip home to Waterfront Park was exactly what the Thunder needed as the team kicked-off the second half of the season by snapping their nine-game losing streak with a 9-5 win over the Reading Phillies last night. In game two of the four-game set tonight, the Thunder will look to win their 32nd game in 46 tries. After the four-game series with Reading, the Thunder welcome the Erie SeaWolves to town for the first and only time in 2011.
LHP Steve Garrison will face the Reading Phillies for the second straight start as he makes his tenth start of the season tonight at Waterfront Park. On Sunday in Reading, the lefty surrendered a career high eleven hits on seven runs (five earned). Since coming off of the Disabled List on June 25, the Ewing, NJ native is 2-2 with a 7.20 ERA.
RHP Tyler Cloyd will look to win against the Thunder for the second straight outing as he gets the ball in game two of the four-game series at Waterfront Park. Against the Thunder on Friday night at FirstEnergy Stadium, the righty hurled six innings of one-run ball as the R-Phils rolled over the Thunder 6-1. In his seven starts at Double A this season, Cloyd has only allowed more than three runs once.
