The Thunder still have a number of things to accomplish in today’s series finale of the four-game set despite the 13-2 shellacking handed down by the Victorino and Lidge-led R-Phils last night. With a win on Sunday afternoon, the Thunder can win the series over Reading and also secure a split in the 18-game season series that currently stands in Reading’s favor at 9-8. On Monday, the Thunder welcome the Erie SeaWolves to town for the first of three games.
LHP Manny Banuelos will look to avoid losing his third straight start on Sunday as he faces the R-Phils for the fourth time this season. The lefty Banuelos will make his team-leading 18th start of the season for the Thunder. Manny’s last time out, a start on Friday in Reading, saw the 20 year-old surrender five runs on eight hits in five innings.
RHP B.J. Rosenberg makes his twelfth start of the season for Mark Parent’s bunch and his second consecutive against the Trenton Thunder. On Monday, the righty only lasted three innings and gave up three runs.
The Bank of Princeton’s Hank’s Take it to the Bank: Thunder starting pitcher Manny Banuelos will allow two runs or less in the outing. Season Stats: 36 wins, 50 losses (streak: L8)
