The Thunder will attempt to put an end to their season-long losing streak of six games on Saturday night in Reading when the team takes on the R-Phils for game two of a four-game set. The last time the Thunder won a game, Derek Jeter was occupying shortstop at Waterfront Park one week ago tonight. The Eastern League All Star break will take place next week, immediately after this four-game series ends.
LHP Shaeffer Hall will make his first start for the Thunder since June 19 tonight as he gets the ball against the R-Phils. Hall appeared in two relief appearances for the Thunder on the back of two Phil Hughes rehab appearances, then was briefly called up to AAA on Monday for a start. In that outing, Hall picked up a win over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, the AAA Affiliate of the Phillies. In three starts against the R-Phils this season, Hall is 1-1 with a 5.06 ERA.
RHP Austin Hyatt will get the pearl from Mark Parent tonight in this second game of the four-game series. The 2011 Eastern League All Star last worked on Monday when he allowed five runs in four innings in a no decision in Bowie. Hyatt has worked three times against the Thunder this season, faring 1-1 with a 4.34 ERA in those outings.
