Coming off a seven-game homestand that saw the likes of Jesse Litsch, Phil Hughes and Derek Jeter take the field, the Thunder embark on an eight-game road swing to Richmond and Reading on Monday, July the Fourth. This is the second of two trips for the Thunder to the Commonwealth of Virginia in 2011. The team lost three of four games at The Diamond in late April. The Thunder are currently in a stretch where 17 of the final 24 games of the first half are played on the road.
LHP Josh Romanski will make his first career Double A start tonight in Richmond. The lefty from Corona, CA was called up to the Thunder from Advanced A Tampa in late June and has made two relief appearances. In 13 starts with the T-Yanks this season, Romanski fared 6-5 with a 2.99 ERA.
RHP Justin Fitzgerald will make his sixteenth start of the season for Richmond tonight. The righty last worked on June Tuesday but his start was cut-short after just one inning as the game was suspended and resumed on Wednesday. In one start against the Thunder this season, Fitzgerald lasted 4.1 innings and gave up a run on three hits on April 28 at the Diamond. Fitzgerald was an 11th round selection of the Giants in 2008 out of UC-Davis.
