Game 70: Trenton Thunder (40-29) @ Portland Sea Dogs (23-43)

Former Charlotte 49er Rob Lyerly made his former school proud when he became the newest member of the Thunder today.

Today’s Game Notes

The Thunder head to Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine, for the final time in 2011 after a series loss in Binghamton over Father’s Day weekend. A come-from-behind win on Sunday helped Trenton avoid losing five straight games for the first time all season. Currently on their longest road swing of the season, the Thunder play three in Portland before heading to New Britain for a three-game weekend set.

RHP Dellin Betances will make his twelfth start of 2011 Tuesday and his fourth against the Sea Dogs. The righty from Brooklyn received his first loss since his first start of the year on Wednesday at home against Harrisburg when he allowed just one earned run in five innings. In three starts against Portland this year, Betances is 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA and has struck out 16 in 15.0 innings.

RHP Brock Huntzinger will also make his twelfth start of 2011 tonight and his third against the Thunder. On Wednesday, the righty took the loss in Erie when he allowed five runs on eight hits in just 3.1 innings. Huntzinger is 0-1 with a 4.70 ERA in his two previous outings against Trenton this season.

The Bank of Princeton’s Hank’s Take it to the Bank: Rob Lyerly will get a hit in his Thunder and Double A debut tonight. Season Stats: 26 wins, 38 losses (streak: W2)
