Alumni Spotlight: David Robertson

David Robertson did great things on the mound in Trenton. Now the Thunder alum is doing even greater things off the field for his tornado-ravaged hometown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

The Yankees reliever will donate $100 to the David and Erin Robertson Foundation for every strikeout he throws this year. The money will go to assist the victims of the April 27 tornado that leveled Tuscaloosa and other parts of Alabama. Robertson’s family was spared injury and damage, but the 26-year-old has friends who lost their homes in the storm. Beside the financially assistance, he has visited the city to survey the damage and offer his help.

David Robertson passed through Double-A quickly on the way to the Major Leagues in 2008. In 11 total appearances for the Thunder in 2007 and 2008, the right-hander combined for a 1.22 earned run average. Robertson struck out 35 hitters and walked just 8 batters. He is currently in his fourth season with the New York Yankees.
